The
above are the first pilot club chapters implemented
by Need To Read Book Club. The inspiring story behind
the growth of NTRBC is the "reading chain"
that took hold and linked kids despite their soci-economic
circumstance.
All
Kids NEED TO READ!
All
Kids NEED TO SERVE!
NTRBC
started in a private school. One of its "Reading
for Others" service projects was to give books
to a Boys & Girls Club.
The
enthusiasm for reading & service was contagious.
The
Boys & Girls Club wanted to be a part and NTRBC
was happy to provide. Boys & Girls Club chose to
give books to the Anchor House, a shelter for teen girls.
The
enthusiasm took hold among these girls too, and another
NTRBC chapter started. The Anchor House chapter chose
another local Girls' Home as their service recipient
and they were also inspired and have expressed interest
in a club chapter.
