KEY Support Team Program
What is a KEY Support Team? KEY Support Teams are made up of volunteers who help Need To Read Book Club facilitators with monthly book club meetings for members throughout the school year.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
* Organizing and/or helping with games, crafts, and activities (Ideas provided by club facilitators through Need To Read Book Club member resources: www.needtoreadmembers.com) * Serving as or scheduling guest speakers * Organizing field trips * Providing refreshments * Helping direct Reader's Theatre programs * Assisting club members who may need help reading * Encouraging reading among club members as they participate in the "Reading for Others" Service Project * Assisting with the "Reading for Others" Book-buying & Book Distribution events
Who can join a KEY Support Team?
* adult service clubs or organizations * college/university service clubs or programs * college/university Education Department * high school service clubs * parents or family members * adult book clubs * area businesses * retired seniors * church groups or circles * group of individuals * teachers
What is the time commitment of a KEY Support Team member?
The KEY Support Team program offers an assortment of volunteer opportunities based on your time, talents, and interests. Need To Read Book Club meetings are once a month and typically held after school for about an hour. Depending upon the size of your KEY Support Team and your personal schedule, you can volunteer as little as once a year or as much as several times a week if you are helping a child with his or her reading. Our members and their facilitators will be thankful for your involvement no matter how large or small.
