"Reading
for Others" Service Project
The "Reading for
Others" Service Project is a reading incentive project to motivate Need to Read
Book Club members to read as much as possible over a 2 month period. Through a sponsored reading program,
members earn money to buy and distribute new books to children
in need. The more the kids read, the more money they
earn, and the more books they distribute to others.
This program proves to kids that their reading truly
makes a difference! Our hope is to buy hundreds of books for children
at the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen, the Spartanburg Children Shelter,
and the Boys and Girls Club this spring.
If
you... would like to encourage reading for a
Need to Read Book
Club chapter, you can make a donation or
sponsor money for a certain amount of pages read
over the next two months. Your money will not only encourage
reading among the club members, but will encourage children
in need in the community to read by getting them brand
new books of their very own. For more information, please

2007 NEWS:
Great
Success! We
had more than 50 people at the "Reading for Others"
Service Rally in February. Now, kids in 3 chapters of
the Need to Read Book Club are busy reading in order
to buy new books for other kids who are in need. Thank
you to all of our guest speakers whose inspiring words
were a great encouragement!
